This week we are singing “Only a Holy God” by the Worship Group CityAlight out of Australia. The lyrics in this song ask 12 questions that are answered in the phrase “Only a Holy God.” This is a poetic way of making each question into a statement of faith. Each of these statements are found in scripture and I believe they are important truths for the believer to remember who God is, what He has done, and what He will do. As we prepare for worship this week take some time to read through the Bible verses behind these lyrics.  

·      Who else commands all the hosts of heaven? Only a Holy God! (Psalm 33:6, 103:21)

·       Who else could make every king bow down? Only a Holy God! (Job 12:23, Psalm 22:28)

·      Who else can whisper and darkness trembles? Only a Holy God! (John 1:5)

·      What other beauty demands such praises? Only a Holy God! (Luke 19:40)

·      What other splendor outshines the sun? Only a Holy God! (Exodus 15:11)

·      What other majesty rules with justice? Only a Holy God! (Psalm 89:14)

·      What other glory consumes like fire? Only a Holy God! (Hebrews 12:29)

·      What other power can raise the dead? Only a Holy God! (Revelation 20:5)

·      What other name remains undefeated? Only a Holy God! (Jeremiah 32:17)

·      Who else could rescue me from my failing? Only a Holy God! (Colossians 1:13)

·      Who else would offer His only Son? Only a Holy God! (John 3:16)

·      Who else invites me to call Him Father? Only a Holy God! (Galatians 4:4-5)

The songs refrain calls us to sing and worship our Holy God. As we meet this week and sing several songs about God’s holiness, I want us to have a heart that joins in with the heavenly host that never stops singing “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord.” (Revelation 4:8, Isaiah 6:3)
