Hey LRC families! Student ministry has officially begun and things are going to look a little different this year. Here’s my quick overview...
Two big changes. 1) We will not be able to meet at the school for the foreseeable future. 2) We are going to split our middle school and high school groups. This has been on my heart for some time. There is such a big difference between a 6th and a 12th grader. Splitting groups will allow us to better reach each student at the stage of life they are in. Here is what these changes mean for our Wednesday schedule:
There is a chance when the weather gets colder we will find a new location. However, I am thinking we can make the LRC office spaces work for our gatherings. Again, if rides are an issue, let me know.
We are going to continue with our Sunday morning gatherings during the second service (10:30-11:30 a.m.). There is one significant change. This group will be primarily for middle school students. Any high school students who attend the first service are welcome to join. However, for those only coming during our second worship hour, we would like our high schoolers to be a part of the whole church gathering.
This year, I really want to focus on more intentional discipleship in our ministry. All of our students are going to be working through Foundations - Teen Devotional: A 260-Day Bible Reading Plan for Busy Teens. A daily habit of spending time in Scripture may be the most important discipline we can pass on to our students. I will order the books. They cost $15—which will be up to families to pay. If finances are a concern, please let me know! We have funds to help if needed. As for payment, you can make an online payment through our registration form below or pay me in-person.
Finally, I want to call your attention to an upcoming meeting on the calendar (the calendar is located in the download section below) scheduled for Sunday, September 27th in between our worship services (10:00-10:30 a.m.) at the Central High School. It will be a short informational meeting for both parents and students. I will try to give you a quick overview of our fall, as well as answer any specific questions you might have. I am excited to partner with you all as we help our students grow as mature followers of Jesus. Click the link below to register your student(s) for the 2020-21 student ministry year. Again, our fall calendar is located in the downloads section below!
